Fruits of Disparaging vs. Observing Dharma; Marks of Good Conduct

Mahādeva disse: “Que ele mantenha regularmente o Agnihotra e, segundo a regra, ofereça as oblações no fogo sagrado. Honrando todo hóspede com a devida hospitalidade, que coma somente depois de servir aos demais, tomando como alimento o que restar das oferendas. Assim disciplinado no dever doméstico—contido, humilde e fiel aos ritos prescritos—sustenta o dharma por meio do sacrifício, do autodomínio e do serviço.”
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
The verse teaches household dharma through disciplined ritual and ethics: maintain the daily fire-sacrifice as prescribed, practise universal hospitality, and eat only after fulfilling duties—ideally from the remainder after offerings and serving others—cultivating humility and restraint.
Śrī Mahādeva is instructing on proper conduct (ācāra) for a householder—especially the integration of yajña (Agnihotra) with social duty (atithi-satkāra), presenting a model of righteous living grounded in Vedic rites and service.
