ब्राह्मणपूजायां व्युष्टिः — Vyuṣṭi (Merit-Outcome) of Honoring Brāhmaṇas: Kṛṣṇa and Durvāsā
ऋषयश्चार्तिमापन्ना जितक्रोधा जितेन्द्रिया: । भवन्तो व्यथिताश्चासन् देवकल्पास्तपोधना:,उसी तेजसे आप-जैसे तपस्याके धनी, देवोपम शक्तिशाली, क्रोधविजयी और जितेन्द्रिय ऋषि भी पीड़ित और व्यथित हो गये थे
ṛṣayaś cārtim āpannā jitakrodhā jitendriyāḥ | bhavanto vyathitāś cāsan devakalpās tapodhanāḥ ||
Vāyu disse: “Até mesmo os sábios—ricos em austeridade, de poder semelhante ao dos deuses, vencedores da ira e senhores dos sentidos—caíram em aflição e foram abalados pela angústia. Tal foi o peso do sofrimento que os dominou.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights that even highly disciplined sages—who have mastered anger and the senses—can be overwhelmed by intense suffering. Ethically, it underscores humility and compassion: spiritual attainment does not make one immune to pain, and distress can test even the most self-controlled.
Vāyu addresses revered listeners and describes how the sages, despite being godlike and wealthy in austerity, became afflicted and shaken. The statement functions as testimony to the severity of the situation being discussed in this section of the Anuśāsana Parva.
