प्रियो मे5यं प्रियोडस्पाहमिति सम्प्रेक्ष्य बुद्धिमान् वयस्यायैवमक्लिष्टं दानं दद्यादतन्द्रित:
priyo me ’yaṃ priyo ’smy aham iti samprekṣya buddhimān vayasyāyaivam akliṣṭaṃ dānaṃ dadyād atandritaḥ
Bhishma disse: Refletindo: “Esta pessoa me é querida, e eu lhe sou querido”, o sábio deve, sem preguiça, dar ao amigo uma dádiva voluntária e sem aflição. Isto descreve o dar motivado por afeição pessoal e pelo desejo de agradar (dar baseado em kāmanā).
