चिराभिलषितं किंचित्फलमप्राप्तमेव ते । कृतमन्यैरपह्तं तेनासि हरिण: कृश:

Transliteration

cirābhilaṣitaṃ kiñcit phalam aprāptam eva te | kṛtam anyair apahṛtaṃ tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||

Translation

Disse o brâmane: “Algum fruto que há muito desejavas estava destinado a chegar a ti, mas não o obtiveste. O que realizaste foi levado por outros; por isso, ó cervo, tornaste-te magro, e teu brilho se apagou pela decepção e pela perda.”
