Dāna–Tapaḥ Praśaṃsā and Gṛhastha-Upadeśa
Maitreya
ते5पि यस्मात् प्रभावेण हता: क्षत्रियपुंगवा: । सम्प्राप्तास्ते गतिं पुण्यां तस्मान्मा शोच पुत्रक
te 'pi yasmāt prabhāveṇa hatāḥ kṣatriya-puṅgavāḥ | samprāptās te gatiṁ puṇyāṁ tasmān mā śoca putraka ||
Bhishma disse: «Também aqueles kshatriyas eminentes, abatidos por sua bravura, alcançaram um destino santo. Portanto, meu filho, não te aflijas. Aquele que entrega a vida na batalha, encontrando a morte na vocação do kshatriya, é reconhecido pela tradição como alguém que segue um rumo exaltado após a morte; do mesmo modo, os guerreiros ilustres que tombaram neste campo, exibindo sua força, chegaram a um estado meritório — assim, não convém lamentar por eles».
