अध्याय ९५: चित्राङ्गदस्य गन्धर्वेण सह संग्रामः तथा विचित्रवीर्यस्य राज्याभिषेकः
Chitrāṅgada’s duel with the Gandharva and Vicitravīrya’s consecration
विषाण भूत॑ सर्वस्यां पृथिव्यामिति न: श्रुतम् । भरताध्युषितं पूर्व सो5ध्यतिष्ठत् पुरोत्तमम्,तब “बहुत अच्छा” कहकर वसिष्ठजीने भी भरतवंशियोंकों अपनाया और समस्त भूमण्डलमें उत्कृष्ट पूरवंशी संवरणको समस्त क्षत्रियोंके सम्राट-पदपर अभिषिक्त कर दिया, ऐसा हमारे सुननेमें आया है। तत्पश्चात् महाराज संवरण, जहाँ प्राचीन भरतवंशी राजा रहते थे, उस श्रेष्ठ नगरमें निवास करने लगे
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
viṣāṇa-bhūtaṁ sarvasyāṁ pṛthivyām iti naḥ śrutam |
bharatādhyuṣitaṁ pūrvaṁ so 'dhyatiṣṭhat purottamam ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Ouvimos que ele se tornou, por assim dizer, o próprio ‘chifre’ de toda a terra — o seu mais alto cume e sustentáculo. Nessa excelente cidade dos Pūrus, antes habitada pelos Bhāratas, ele então fixou residência.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores rājadharma in a genealogical frame: a ruler’s eminence is tied to being the stabilizing ‘foremost support’ of the realm and to upholding legitimate continuity by establishing himself in the ancestral political center associated with his lineage.
Vaiśampāyana reports a received tradition: the figure described becomes pre-eminent across the earth and then resides/establishes himself in an excellent Paurava seat—an earlier habitation of the Bharatas—signaling a return to and consolidation of dynastic authority.
