सेयमित्यवगच्छामि नानृतं वक्तुमुत्सहे । नानृतं हि सदा लोके पूज्यते दानवोत्तम,यह वही है, ऐसा मैं जानता हूँ। इस विषयमें मैं झूठ नहीं बोल सकता। दानवश्रेष्ठ! लोकमें असत्यकी कभी पूजा नहीं होती है
seyam ity avagacchāmi nānṛtaṁ vaktum utsahe | nānṛtaṁ hi sadā loke pūjyate dānavottama ||
Compreendo que é exatamente assim. Não tenho ânimo para proferir falsidade neste assunto. Pois, ó o melhor dos Dānavas, a mentira jamais é digna de honra no mundo.
शौनक उवाच
The verse upholds satya (truthfulness) as a foundational ethical value: one should not speak untruth, and falsehood is not truly worthy of respect in society.
Śaunaka addresses a being called ‘dānavottama’ and affirms his understanding of the matter, explicitly refusing to lie, grounding his stance in the general moral principle that untruth is not honored in the world.
