Ādi-parva Adhyāya 3 — Janamejaya’s Rite, Dhaumya’s Parīkṣā, and Uttanka’s Kuṇḍala Quest (सर्पसत्रप्रस्तावना–गुरुपरीक्षा–उत्तङ्कोपाख्यान)
तमुपाध्याय: प्रत्युवाच--अश्विनौ स्तुहि । तौ देवभिषजोौ त्वां चक्षुष्मन्तं कर्ताराविति । स एवमुक्त उपाध्यायेनोपमन्युरश्विनौ स्तोतुमुपचक्रमे देवावश्चिनौ वाम्भिऋग्भि:,तब उपाध्यायने कहा--“वत्स! दोनों अश्विनीकुमार देवताओंके वैद्य हैं। तुम उन्हींकी स्तुति करो। वे तुम्हारी आँखें ठीक कर देंगे।' उपाध्यायके ऐसा कहनेपर उपमन्युने अश्विनीकुमार नामक दोनों देवताओंकी ऋग्वेदके मन्त्रोंद्वारा स्तुति प्रारम्भ की
tam upādhyāyaḥ pratyuvāca— aśvinau stuhi | tau devabhiṣajau tvāṃ cakṣuṣmantaṃ kartārāv iti | sa evam ukta upādhyāyenopamanyur aśvinau stotum upacakrame devāv aśvinau vāmbhir ṛgbhiḥ |
O mestre respondeu: “Louva os Aśvins. Esses dois são os médicos dos deuses; eles restaurarão a tua visão.” Assim instruído por seu preceptor, Upamanyu começou a entoar hinos às divindades gêmeas Aśvin com versos sagrados do Ṛgveda.
