Śārṅgakānāṃ Avināśaḥ (Why the Śārṅga Birds Were Spared) | शार्ङ्गकानामविनाशः
आगमगमे च प्रयोगे च चक्रे तुल्यमिवात्मना । तुतोष पुत्र सौभद्रं प्रेक्षमाणो धनंजय:,धनंजयने अभिमन्युको (अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंक) आगम और प्रयोगमें अपने समान बना दिया था। वे सुभद्राकुमारको देखकर बहुत संतुष्ट रहते थे
āgamāgame ca prayoge ca cakre tulyam ivātmanā | tutoṣa putra-saubhadraṁ prekṣamāṇo dhanañjayaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Tanto no estudo dos āgamas quanto na aplicação prática, Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) treinou o filho de Subhadrā de tal modo que ele se tornou, por assim dizer, igual ao próprio Arjuna. Ao contemplar o jovem Abhimanyu, Arjuna permanecia profundamente satisfeito — imagem do dever do mestre cumprido e da alegria do pai diante de um herdeiro digno em habilidade e responsabilidade.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Excellence is not merely learning authoritative instruction (āgama) but mastering its correct application (prayoga). A teacher’s dharma is to transmit skill responsibly, and a student’s dharma is to embody that training with competence worthy of the lineage.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Arjuna trained Abhimanyu in both the theoretical tradition and the practical use of martial techniques, making him nearly equal to himself; Arjuna, watching Abhimanyu’s progress, feels great satisfaction.
