Intelligence Reports and the Kaurava Court’s Response
The verse highlights the ethical and social ideal that deep friendship and mutual respect between rulers can rightly express itself through a dharmic marital alliance, strengthening bonds between families and lineages.
Dhṛṣṭadyumna explains that Drupada regarded Pāṇḍu as a beloved friend, and therefore Drupada wished to give his daughter in marriage into Pāṇḍu’s line—specifically as a bride for Pāṇḍu’s son—framing it as a deliberate alliance grounded in affection and esteem.
