वैशम्पायन उवाच
This passage is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches how the epic frames events within ordered textual units (parva/adhyāya) and signals completion. Indirectly, by locating the episode in the Svayaṃvara context, it underscores the dharmic importance of socially sanctioned rites and alliances in shaping political and ethical outcomes.
The line announces the conclusion of the chapter in Ādi Parva’s Svayaṃvara section, specifically the chapter themed around Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s return. It functions as an editorial/narrative closure marker rather than advancing the plot with new action.
