उच्चैःश्रवसः वर्णविपणः तथा नागशापः
Uccaiḥśravas Color-Wager and the Nāga Curse
ऊचुश्न कूर्मराजानमकूपारे सुरासुरा: । अधिष्ठानं गिरेरस्य भवान् भवितुमहति,तब देवताओं और असुरोंने (समुद्रकी बात स्वीकार करके) समुद्रतलमें स्थित कच्छपराजसे कहा--“भगवन्! आप इस मन्दराचलके आधार बनिये'
ūcuḥ śrī-kūrma-rājānam akūpāre surāsurāḥ | adhiṣṭhānaṃ gireḥ asya bhavān bhavitum arhati ||
Então os deuses e os asuras, tendo concordado com a empresa no oceano, dirigiram-se à Tartaruga régia nas águas sem limites: “Ó Senhor, tu és digno de tornar-te a base de sustentação desta montanha.” O verso destaca a determinação cooperativa para uma grande tarefa e o reconhecimento ético da aptidão (arhatā) para a responsabilidade.
