Aurva Episode: Restoration of Sight and Restraint of World-Destructive Anger
cākṣuṣī nāma vidyeyaṁ yāṁ somāya dadau manuḥ | dadau sa viśvāvaseve mama viśvāvasur dadau ||
“Há uma ciência chamada Cākṣuṣī. Manu a concedeu a Soma; Soma a deu a Viśvāvasu; e Viśvāvasu a transmitiu a mim.”
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse emphasizes the legitimacy of specialized knowledge through an authentic lineage (paramparā): a teaching is presented as trustworthy when its transmission is traced through respected predecessors.
A Gandharva identifies a particular vidyā called Cākṣuṣī and explains how it came to him—Manu gave it to Soma, Soma to Viśvāvasu, and Viśvāvasu to the speaker—thereby establishing his authority to use or teach it.
