अस्त्राग्निना विचित्रो<यं दग्धो मे रथ उत्तम: । सो हं चित्ररथो भूत्वा नाम्ना दग्धरथो5भवम्,इनके दिव्यास्त्रकी अग्निसे मेरा यह विचित्र एवं उत्तम रथ दग्ध हो गया है। पहले मैं विचित्र रथके कारण “चित्ररथ” कहलाता था; परंतु अब मेरा नाम “दग्धरथ' हो गया
astrāgninā vicitro 'yaṃ dagdho me ratha uttamaḥ | so 'haṃ citraratho bhūtvā nāmnā dagdharatho 'bhavam ||
“O fogo de uma arma divina queimou a minha carruagem, esplêndida e maravilhosa. Eu, que era chamado Citraratha por causa daquela carruagem notável, sou agora Dagdharatha—‘aquele cuja carruagem foi queimada’.”
