कथं परसुतस्यार्थे स्वसुतं त्यक्तुमिच्छसि । लोकवेददविरुद्ध हि पुत्रत्यागात् कृतं त्वया,दूसरेके बेटेके लिये आप अपने पुत्रको क्यों त्याग देना चाहती हैं? पुत्रका त्याग करके आपने लोक और वेद दोनोंके विरुद्ध कार्य किया है
kathaṁ parasutasya arthe svasutaṁ tyaktum icchasi | lokavedāviruddhaṁ hi putratyāgāt kṛtaṁ tvayā ||
Yudhiṣṭhira disse: “Como podes querer abandonar o teu próprio filho pelo filho de outra mulher? Ao renunciares ao teu filho, agiste contra a ordem moral do mundo (loka) e contra a autoridade do Veda.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse condemns abandoning one’s own child for another’s benefit as a breach of dharma, appealing to both social morality (loka) and scriptural norm (veda) as standards for ethical judgment.
Yudhiṣṭhira confronts a woman’s intention or act of giving up her own son for the sake of another’s son, criticizing it as contrary to accepted worldly conduct and Vedic injunctions.
