Prosperity and strength are ethically fulfilled through sustaining friends and relatives; human life, like a forest ecosystem, is upheld by mutual reliance (anyonyam āśritya), not by isolated power.
Vaiśampāyana offers a reflective maxim within the Adi Parva narration, using the simile of forest trees to explain how capable and prosperous people live and endure by supporting one another within their social bonds.
