एवमुक्ता तु सा देवी तथा चक्रे पतिव्रता । यथोक्तमेव तद्वाक्यं भद्रा पुत्रार्थिनी तदा,आकाशवाणीके यों कहनेपर पुत्रकी इच्छा रखनेवाली पतिव्रता भद्रादेवीने पतिकी पूर्वोक्त आज्ञाका अक्षरश: पालन किया
evamuktā tu sā devī tathā cakre pativratā | yathoktam eva tad vākyaṃ bhadrā putrārthinī tadā ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Assim interpelada, aquela nobre senhora—firme na fidelidade de esposa (pativratā)—fez exatamente como fora dito. Então Bhadrā, desejosa de um filho, cumpriu a ordem do marido ao pé da letra, tal como havia sido proferida.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights pativratā-dharma: disciplined fidelity and conscientious adherence to a spouse’s rightful instruction, framed within the ethical aims of household life (including the desire for progeny).
After being instructed, Bhadrā—desiring a son—acts accordingly and follows her husband’s words exactly, as Vaiśampāyana narrates.
