सुहृदां यतमानानामाप्तै: सह चिकित्सकै: । जगामास्तमिवादित्य: कौरव्यो यमसादनम्,उनके हितैषी सगे-सम्बन्धियोंने नामी और विश्वसनीय चिकित्सकोंके साथ उनके रोग- निवारणकी पूरी चेष्टा की, तो भी जैसे सूर्य अस्ताचलको चले जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार वे कौरवनरेश यमलोकको चले गये
suhṛdāṃ yatamānānām āptaiḥ saha cikitsakaiḥ | jagāmāstam ivādityaḥ kauravyo yamasādanam ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Embora seus amigos e parentes bem-intencionados se esforçassem com afinco, juntamente com médicos de confiança, para curá-lo, o rei Kaurava ainda assim partiu para a morada de Yama—tal como o sol desce ao seu poente. O verso ressalta os limites do esforço humano diante da certeza da morte, mesmo quando o cuidado é sincero e competente.
