Quando o Guru se compraz, os mestres e os nobres, satisfeitos, concedem a graça—sem dúvida. Portanto, por ação, por mente e por palavra, jamais se deve provocar a ira do Guru.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya; general śāstra-instruction on guru-sevā within Śaiva discipline)
It establishes guru-sevā as the prerequisite for Śiva’s anugraha: without pleasing the Guru, the fruit of liṅga-pūjā and mantra practice is obstructed by lack of right discipline.
Śiva as Pati is approached through anugraha (grace); the Guru functions as the channel of that grace, guiding the paśu (soul) out of pāśa (bondage) by right conduct in thought, word, and deed.
Pāśupata-style sādhana of tri-karaṇa-śuddhi—purifying action, mind, and speech—especially expressed as restraint and humility toward the Guru to avoid aparādha (offense).
