Naimiṣa-kṣetra-prādurbhāva and Jāpyeśvara-māhātmya — Nandī’s Birth, Japa, and Consecration

FAQs

By stressing “tad-gata-mānasaḥ” (mind absorbed in That), the verse points to inner recollection and one-pointedness where the devotee’s awareness rests in the Divine reality, a practical doorway to realizing the Self through sustained contemplation.

It highlights mantra-japa performed in vast measure (koṭi-japa) and dhāraṇā-like absorption—continuing disciplined repetition even after a vision, showing that spiritual attainment is stabilized through sustained practice (abhyāsa) and tapas.

The verse emphasizes devotion and yogic absorption in the manifest Deity without sectarian insistence; in the Kurma Purana’s synthesis, such darśana and japa are valid approaches to the one Supreme, expressed through Shaiva-Vaishnava unity of practice and goal.
