FAQs

It does not directly define Ātman; instead it maps cosmic governance—showing how multiple deities function as presiding powers for different lineages (ṛṣis and Manus), consistent with the Purana’s integrative theology where divine functions are coordinated rather than mutually exclusive.

No specific yoga technique is taught in this verse; its practical implication is ritual and dharmic orientation—knowing the proper devatā-associations that support discipline (niyama), lineage duties, and devotional focus that later mature into Kurma Purana’s yoga-oriented teachings.

It presents a non-sectarian synthesis: Śiva (Mahādeva) and Viṣṇu are both affirmed as legitimate presiding divinities within dharma’s cosmic order, reflecting the Kurma Purana’s tendency to harmonize Shaiva and Vaishnava viewpoints.
