Bhagīratha Brings Gaṅgā; Saudāsa’s Curse; Khaṭvāṅga’s Instant Renunciation
न मे ब्रह्मकुलात् प्राणा: कुलदैवान्न चात्मजा: । न श्रियो न मही राज्यं न दाराश्चातिवल्लभा: ॥ ४३ ॥
na me brahma-kulāt prāṇāḥ kula-daivān na cātmajāḥ na śriyo na mahī rājyaṁ na dārāś cātivallabhāḥ
Mahārāja Khaṭvāṅga pensou: Nem mesmo minha vida é mais querida para mim do que a cultura brahmínica e os brāhmaṇas, que são adorados pela minha família. O que dizer então do meu reino, terra, esposa, filhos e opulência? Nada é mais querido para mim do que os brāhmaṇas.
