Govardhana-dhāraṇa: Kṛṣṇa Lifts Govardhana and Humbles Indra
The Sāṁvartaka clouds were frightened by Indra’s powerful mood and thus carried out his order, as described in the following verse.
Indra, feeling insulted after the Vrajavasis redirected worship toward Govardhana, resolved to punish them by unleashing storm forces, aiming to devastate Nanda’s settlement.
Indra is speaking, declaring his plan to ride Airāvata with the Maruts and strike Vraja.
The verse highlights how wounded pride can lead to harmful actions; devotees are reminded to cultivate humility and avoid using power to retaliate when ego feels threatened.
