FAQs

No ritual or technical vidyā is taught here; the verse transmits dynastic knowledge (vaṁśa-jñāna) by listing successive kings in the Solar line.

By preserving structured genealogical data (names and succession), it functions like a historical-chronicle register alongside the Purana’s many other domains (ritual, polity, medicine, etc.).

Remembering and reciting righteous lineages is traditionally treated as purifying (smṛti-śuddhi) and reinforces dharma through exemplars of kingship, even when the verse itself is primarily genealogical.
