Reconhece-se que a fala se torna obstruída ou gaguejante por causa da alegria e de emoções afins; que a alteração da voz surge do medo e de estados semelhantes; e que a perturbação mental nasce do luto, da perda do que é querido e de outros fatores similares.
Lord Agni (Agni Purana’s primary narrator) instructing sage Vasiṣṭha (contextual attribution)

Ayurvedic roga-nidāna: it classifies clinical signs—speech obstruction, voice alteration, and mental instability—by tracing them to emotional causes such as joy, fear, grief, and loss.
It demonstrates the Purana’s medical-technical scope by preserving diagnostic reasoning typical of Ayurveda (symptom-to-cause mapping), alongside the text’s many other disciplines.
By identifying emotion-driven disturbances early, one can pursue restraint, consolation, and sattvic discipline—reducing agitation and preventing harmful actions that can arise from fear, grief, or mental instability.
