Ṣāḍguṇya — The Six Measures of Foreign Policy

यदा द्वावपि नेच्छेतां संश्लेषं जातसंविदौ तदोपसर्पेत्तच्छत्रुमधिकं वा स्वयं व्रजेत्

yadā dvāvapi necchetāṃ saṃśleṣaṃ jātasaṃvidau tadopasarpettacchatrumadhikaṃ vā svayaṃ vrajet

Quando ambos os lados—embora já em contacto e cientes um do outro—não desejam uma união estreita (aliança), então deve-se aproximar desse inimigo para lidar com ele; ou, em alternativa, ir por si mesmo àquele que é mais forte do que esse inimigo, buscando apoio.
