Ṣāḍguṇya — The Six Measures of Foreign Policy

राज्यस्त्रीस्थानदेशानां ज्ञानस्य च बलस्य च अपहारी मदो मानः पीडा वैषयिकी तथा

rājyastrīsthānadeśānāṃ jñānasya ca balasya ca apahārī mado mānaḥ pīḍā vaiṣayikī tathā

Mada (embriaguez/entorpecimento) e māna (orgulho) são ladrões: roubam a realeza, as mulheres (isto é, os vínculos), o lugar e o território, e também o conhecimento e a força; e do mesmo modo há o tormento que nasce dos objetos dos sentidos (viṣaya).
