Lord Agni (instructing a listener addressed as Rāma, within the didactic narration)

Related Themes: Agni Purana 223 (Taila-kalpanā)
It teaches a practical method of preparing scented oil: steep sesame seeds with flowers (puṣpādhivāsana) and then press them to obtain oil that reliably carries the flower fragrance.
Beyond theology, it preserves applied knowledge—cosmetic/perfumery and preparation-technique vocabulary (taila, adhivāsita, vāsanā)—showing the Purana’s coverage of everyday technologies used in ritual and personal care.
Scented oils are commonly used as auspicious offerings and for purification in worship; producing a stable, pleasant fragrance supports clean, sattvic ritual practice and enhances the devotional atmosphere.
