It teaches a protective-healing mantra procedure: identifying the mantra’s metre (Triṣṭubh/Anuṣṭubh), assigning the presiding deity (Viṣṇu/Narasiṃha), and using bīja-syllables for subjugation (trailokya-mohana) and for alleviating/destroying poison and disease (viṣa-vyādhi).
It combines multiple technical layers—mantra-śāstra (bījas), chandas (metre specification), devatā-viniyoga (deity assignment), and practical therapeutic aims (poison/disease control)—showing how the Agni Purāṇa catalogs applied ritual-healing knowledge alongside theology.
The instruction frames healing and protection as a dharmic act: invoking Viṣṇu/Narasiṃha through disciplined mantra-use is presented as a purificatory, protective means that counters harm (poison, disease, enemies) while aligning the practitioner with divine guardianship.
