Concept: Ritual efficacy is supported by calibrated repetition counts; mantra-components (bīja, mala-mantra, associated mantras) follow proportional arithmetic.
Application: When designing a japa regimen, compute counts by mantra length; set mala-mantra repetitions at 2x or 3x the bīja repetitions and adjust ancillary mantra counts accordingly.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 292.25-26 (japa-homa ratios; aṅga-mantra ratios)
It teaches how to set japa counts: longer mantras require fewer repetitions, and related mantras should be adjusted accordingly; for a mālā-mantra, japa is prescribed at two or three times the bīja-mantra count.
It preserves a technical, procedural rule-set for mantra-practice (counting, proportional adjustment, bīja vs. mālā usage), showing the Purana’s coverage of practical liturgy alongside theology and narrative.
By regulating mantra counts according to established rules, the practitioner maintains correctness (vidhi), which is traditionally held to safeguard efficacy (siddhi) and ensure the intended purificatory merit of japa.
