Chapter 34 —
The Procedure for Homa and Related Rites

Related Themes: Agni Purāṇa: dvāra-pūjā, maṇḍapa-vidhi, and dik-devatā/dikpāla-related prescriptions in ritual chapters.
It prescribes a specific puja-sequence: begin with dvāra-yāga (gateway worship), then worship the toraṇa-presiding deities, and finally place/assign specific sacred trees to the directions starting from the east—an applied rule-set used in temple/mandapa ritual layout.
It demonstrates the text’s practical coverage of ritual engineering—linking deity-worship (toraṇa īśa, dvāra rites) with spatial planning (directional assignments) and sacred botany (aśvattha, udumbara, vaṭa), integrating liturgy with Vāstu-style layout principles.
Worshipping thresholds (dvāra) and ceremonial arches (toraṇa) sanctifies entry, removes obstacles, and establishes protective auspiciousness; the prescribed directional placement of sacred trees is a merit-bearing act believed to stabilize sacred space and align it with cosmic order (dik-śuddhi).
