Explanation of the Rite of Initiation

Concept: Śuddhi as ontological reconfiguration: the subtle self (liṅga) and causal matrix (prakṛti) are ritually ‘cleansed’ so the embodied person is fit for īśvara-sthiti (abidance in the Lord).
Application: In lineage practice, follow the authorized pāṭha (recension) for prakṛti-śodhana mantra; if taught, include karmic-function purification; conclude with visualization of ascent/establishment in īśvara-dhāman.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 27 (mantra-nyāsa and dīkṣā procedures; pūrṇāhuti context nearby)
It teaches tattva-śuddhi within pūjā/nyāsa: first purify the liṅgātman (subtle self), then purify Prakṛti using specific bīja/mantra variants, optionally extending purification to karmic designations (karmākhyāni), culminating in establishment in Īśvara’s dhāman.
It preserves applied ritual technology—mantra-variants across manuscripts, bīja usage, and a structured purification ladder (liṅga → prakṛti → karma → purified puruṣa)—illustrating the Agni Purana’s coverage of practical liturgy alongside philosophy (Prakṛti–Puruṣa–Īśvara).
By ritually cleansing the subtle self, Prakṛti-bound embodiment, and even karmic labels/imprints, the practitioner symbolically reverses bondage and re-centers the self in Īśvara’s abode—signifying liberation-oriented purity and eligibility for higher worship.
