Verse 19

Parabrahma

तस्मात् सर्वप्रयत्नेन मोक्षापेक्षी भवेद् यतिः । बहिःसूत्रं परित्यज्य स्वान्तःसूत्रं तु धारयेत् ॥१९॥

तस्मात् । सर्व-प्रयत्नेन । मोक्ष-अपेक्षी । भवेत् । यतिः । बहिः-सूत्रम् । परित्यज्य । स्व-अन्तः-सूत्रम् । तु । धारयेत् ॥१९॥

tasmāt sarvaprayatnena mokṣāpekṣī bhaved yatiḥ | bahiḥsūtraṃ parityajya svāntaḥsūtraṃ tu dhārayet ||19||

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਯਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਕਾਂਖਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ; ਬਾਹਰੀ ਯਜ੍ਞੋਪਵੀਤ (ਜਨੇਊ) ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਅੰਤਰਿਕ ਸੂਤਰ—ਆਤਮ-ਸੂਤਰ—ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਹੀ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੇ।

Therefore, with every effort, the renunciate (yati) should become one who seeks liberation; having abandoned the external sacred thread, he should indeed bear the inner thread (the inward ‘sūtra’).
