पार्थिवः पञ्चमात्रस्तु चतुर्मात्राणि वारुणः । आग्नेयस्तु त्रिमात्रोऽसौ वायव्यस्तु द्विमात्रकः ॥३१॥

IAST Transliteration

pārthivaḥ pañcamātras tu caturmātrāṇi vāruṇaḥ | āgneyas tu trimātro'sau vāyavyas tu dvimātrakaḥ ||31||

Translation

ਪਾਰਥਿਵ ਤੱਤ ਪੰਜ ਮਾਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ; ਵਾਰੁਣ ਤੱਤ ਚਾਰ ਮਾਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ। ਆਗਨੇਯ ਤੱਤ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਾਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ; ਅਤੇ ਵਾਯਵ੍ਯ ਤੱਤ ਦੋ ਮਾਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Academic Translation

The earthy (principle) is of five mātrās; the watery (principle) is of four mātrās. The fiery (principle) is of three mātrās; that airy (principle) is of two mātrās.
