Bondage and Liberation: The Prakṛti–Karma Wheel and Śiva as the Transcendent Cause
tasmādguruśarīraṃ tu guruliṃgaṃ bhavedbudhaḥ | guruliṃgasya pūjā tu guruśuśrūṣaṇaṃ bhavet

The verse teaches that the living Guru is to be approached as a tangible locus of Śiva’s grace (liṅga as ‘mark/presence’), and that sincere service (śuśrūṣā) is not secondary but itself the heart of worship leading toward liberation.
It frames the Guru as a saguna, accessible manifestation of Śiva’s guidance: honoring the Guru’s embodied presence is treated as liṅga-pūjā, emphasizing devotion expressed through conduct, humility, and receptivity to instruction.
The practical sādhana highlighted is guru-śuśrūṣā—daily service, respectful listening, and disciplined obedience—performed in a spirit of pūjā; this can be paired with japa (e.g., the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as directed by the Guru.
