Yatinātha-līlā: Śiva’s Test of the Bhilla Devotees at Arbuda Mountain
etasminnantare sākṣātpuraḥ prādurabhūcchivaḥ | dhanye dhanye iti prītyā praśaṃsastāṃ haro'bravīt
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: A classic Purāṇic motif: when devotion reaches its limit, Śiva manifests ‘sākṣāt’ (directly) to grant boon and confirm grace; here the appearance is triggered by the devotee’s extreme fidelity and surrender.
Significance: Darśana of Śiva (even as narrative remembrance) is held to bestow pāpa-kṣaya and strengthen śaraṇāgati; the refrain ‘dhanye dhanye’ models Śiva’s approval of sincere devotion.
Mantra: धन्ये धन्ये (dhanye dhanye)
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: pratyakṣa-darśana (direct manifestation)
It highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): when devotion ripens, the Lord who is beyond form also becomes directly present in a compassionate, perceivable way, affirming the devotee’s spiritual worthiness.
The verse presents sākṣāt-prādurbhāva (direct manifestation), a Saguna expression of the same Supreme Śiva worshipped as the Liṅga—showing that Liṅga-bhakti culminates in the Lord’s tangible blessing and reassurance.
Steady bhakti supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and regular Śiva-pūjā (with bhasma/tripuṇḍra and rudrākṣa where appropriate) is implied as the devotional path that invites Śiva’s grace.
