Sarga 93: Rāvaṇa’s Grief and Fury after Indrajit’s Fall; Move to Slay Vaidehī and Ministerial Restraint

sa taṁ pratibhayaṁ śrutvā vadhaṁ putrasya dāruṇam |
ghoram indrajitaḥ saṅkhye kaśmalaṁ prāviśan mahat ||
Red-eyed Ravana, looking dreadful with a frightening face, desperate, spoke in a low voice to all Rakshasas as follows.
The verse highlights the moral consequence of adharma: even a powerful wrongdoer is not immune to suffering. Grief becomes a natural fruit of violent, unrighteous conflict.
News arrives that Indrajit has been slain in battle, and Rāvaṇa collapses into overwhelming shock and faintness.
No virtue is celebrated here; rather, the verse emphasizes human vulnerability—how attachment and loss can shatter even the mighty.
