वर्णनम् / Sītā’s Distress and Rāvaṇa’s Attempt at Coercive Allurement
समीक्षमाणां रुदतीमनिन्दितां सुपक्ष्मताम्रायतशुक्ललोचनाम्।अनुव्रतां राममतीव मैथिलीं प्रलोभयामास वधाय रावणः।।।।
samīkṣamāṇāṃ rudatīm aninditāṃ supakṣmatāmrāyataśuklalocanām |
anuvratāṃ rāmam atīva maithilīṃ pralobhayāmāsa vadhāya rāvaṇaḥ ||
ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਮੈਥਿਲੀ ਚੌਫੇਰੇ ਤੱਕਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਰੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ; ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਲਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਰੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਚਮਕਦਾਰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਨੇ ਹੌਲੇ ਲਾਲ ਸਨ। ਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਅਤਿ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲ ਵ੍ਰਤ ਵਾਲੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਵਣ ਨੇ ਲਲਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ; ਪਰ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਧ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
