Trishanku’s Curse and Appeal to Viśvāmitra
धर्मे प्रयतमानस्य यज्ञं चाहर्तुमिच्छत:।।।।परितोषं न गच्छन्ति गुरवो मुनिपुङ्गव ।
dharme prayatamānasya yajñaṃ cāhartum icchataḥ | paritoṣaṃ na gacchanti guravo munipuṅgava ||
ਹੇ ਮੁਨਿਪੁੰਗਵ, ਮੈਂ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਯਜ੍ਞ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ—ਉਹ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ।
O Pre-eminent among sages! I endeavour to do my duty. I intend to perform a sacrifice. My gurus do not appreciate this.
