FAQs

Bathing at the specified sacred place, maintaining discipline and self-control, and observing a fast for one night.

The verse states that such observance can “deliver” (tārayet) a hundred generations of one’s lineage—i.e., confer great ancestral merit and upliftment.

Inner restraint (jitendriya) and disciplined observance (niyama) are presented as essential to making ritual acts spiritually efficacious.
