The Account and Merit of Śivadūtī
with the Nāga-tīrtha at Puṣkara
naśyaṃti tūragairdaṣṭā manuṣyāḥ paśavastathā | yasmānmatprabhavānnityaṃ kṣayaṃ nayatha mānuṣān
Uncertain (context not provided; likely a deity/authority addressing destructive beings or forces)
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It links a cause of death (being bitten) with a broader principle of destruction, portraying certain beings/forces as instruments that bring humans toward decline.
Implicitly, it highlights the reality of vulnerability and mortality, urging attentiveness to harmful causes and the inevitability of decay within embodied life.
From this single verse alone the speaker cannot be identified with certainty; the surrounding verses in Adhyaya 31 are needed to confirm the dialogue frame (e.g., which sage/deity is addressing whom).
