The Determination of the Extent of the Sacred Field and Related Matters
Kurukṣetra Māhātmya
अत्र स्नाता नरा देवि लभंते पुण्यमक्षयम् । मृता विमानमारुह्य ब्रह्मलोकं व्रजंति च ॥ २१ ॥
atra snātā narā devi labhaṃte puṇyamakṣayam | mṛtā vimānamāruhya brahmalokaṃ vrajaṃti ca || 21 ||
ਹੇ ਦੇਵੀ! ਇੱਥੇ ਸਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਖੰਡ ਪੁੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਦਿਵ੍ਯ ਵਿਮਾਨ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਲੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

It declares the tirtha’s power: bathing there grants akṣaya-puṇya (inexhaustible merit) and yields an exalted post-mortem destination—Brahmaloka—signifying the extraordinary efficacy of that sacred place.
Although it highlights a tirtha-rite (snāna), the implied bhakti element is reverent approach to the sacred—faithfully honoring the divine presence in the tirtha—through which grace-bearing merit and higher lokas are attained.
Ritual practice aligned with Dharma is emphasized—tīrtha-snāna as a purifying act—rather than a technical Vedanga topic like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa in this specific verse.
