Adhyaya 71 — The King’s Remorse and the Sage’s Counsel on the Necessity of a Wife
yadā tu yācitā nandā na dadāti nṛpottama / mūkā bhaviṣyasīty āha tadā tāṃ tanayāṃ pitā

Speech (vāk) is treated as a moral faculty: misuse of authority and coercive anger can ‘bind’ speech—symbolizing the breakdown of right communication within a family.
Carita with dharma-adharma illustration; not cosmological enumeration but moral narrative.
Muteness signifies blockage of expression and truth; a curse on vāk often indicates karmic sealing of secrets—what was hidden now manifests as inability to speak or relate.
