Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
Bhīmasena uvāca—bhadre! tvaṁ yathā vadāsi, tathā kariṣyāmi. bhīru! aham adya Kīcakaṁ tasya bhrātṛ-bandhubhiḥ saha mārayiṣyāmi.
The verse highlights a dharmic impulse to protect a wronged person and uphold honor: Bhima commits himself to decisive action against an aggressor, framing force as a response to adharma rather than personal cruelty.
In the Virata court context, Bhima responds to a distressed appeal (implicitly from Draupadi/Sairandhri) and promises to carry out her plan, declaring that he will kill Kichaka along with his supporting kinsmen.
