Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace
क्षत्तुर्यदा नान्ववर्तन्त बुद्धि कृच्छूं कुरून् सूत तदाभ्याजगाम । यावत् प्रज्ञामन्ववर्तन्त तस्य तावत् तेषां राष्ट्रवृद्धिर्ब भूव
kṣattur yadā nānvavartanta buddhiṃ kṛcchūṃ kurūn sūta tadābhyājagāma | yāvat prajñām anvavartanta tasya tāvat teṣāṃ rāṣṭravṛddhir babhūva, sūta |
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਸੂਤ! ਜਦੋਂ ਕੌਰਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੱਤ੍ਰ (ਵਿਦੁਰ) ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਿਆ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਕਰਨਾ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਠਿਨਾਈ ਆ ਪਈ। ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਚਲਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਤਦ ਤੱਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਵਧੋਤਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਰਹੀ; ਪਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਆਫ਼ਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰਨ ਲੱਗੀ।
