Treasury Security, Protection of Informants, and the Kalakavṛkṣīya Exemplum (Śānti Parva 83)
ददात्यस्मद्विधो<मात्यो बुद्धिसाहाय्यमापदि । वायसस्त्वेष मे राजन् ननु कार्याभिसंहित:
dadāty asmad-vidho ’mātyo buddhi-sāhāyyam āpadi | vāyasas tv eṣa me rājan nanu kāryābhisaṁhitaḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਅਮਾਤ੍ਯ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਵੇਲੇ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ, ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਕਾਂ ਵੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ; ਪਰ ਉਹ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ—ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਅੰਜਾਮ ਹੋਵੇ।
