हसन्ति च मनुष्याणां स्वरवर्णमनांस्युत । व्याधयश्व भवन्त्यत्र प्रियन्ते च गतायुष:

Transliteration

hasanti ca manuṣyāṇāṃ svaravarṇamanāṃsy uta | vyādhayaś ca bhavanty atra priyante ca gatāyuṣaḥ ||

Translation

ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼, ਰੰਗਤ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਮਲਿਨ ਤੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇੱਥੇ ਰੋਗ-ਵਿਆਧੀਆਂ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੰਗ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ; ਆਯੁ ਘੱਟ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਮਰਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
