Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
वैदिकानि च कर्माणि भवन्ति विगुणान्युत । ऋतवो न सुखा: सर्वे भवन्त्यामयिनस्तथा
vaidikāni ca karmāṇi bhavanti viguṇāny uta | ṛtavo na sukhāḥ sarve bhavanty āmayinas tathā ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜਦੋਂ ਵੈਦਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਵਿਧੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਣਹੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਫਲ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਰੁੱਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ; ਅਕਸਰ ਉਹ ਰੋਗ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
