Śaṅkha–Likhita Upākhyāna: Daṇḍa, Confession, and the Purification of Kingship (शङ्ख-लिखितोपाख्यानम्)
विद्वांस्त्यागी श्रद्दधधान: कृतज्ञ- स्त्यक्त्वा लोकं मानुषं कर्म कृत्वा । मेधाविनां विदुषां सम्मतानां तनुत्यजां लोकमाक्रम्य राजा
vidvāṁs tyāgī śraddadhānaḥ kṛtajñas tyaktvā lokaṁ mānuṣaṁ karma kṛtvā | medhāvināṁ viduṣāṁ sammatānāṁ tanutyajāṁ lokam ākramya rājā ||
ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਉਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ, ਤਿਆਗੀ, ਸ਼ਰਧਾਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਜ्ञ ਸੀ। ਮਨੁੱਖ-ਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਰਤੱਬ-ਕਰਮ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਲੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੇਧਾਵੀ ਤੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ, ਸਭ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ, ਅਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ-ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਹ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੁੰਨਾਤਮਾ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ।
