ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana
River-of-Saṃsāra Metaphor
इदं तु लब्ध्वा संस्थानमात्मानं बहु मन्यसे । सर्वभूतभवं देवं ब्रह्माणमिव शाश्वतम्
idaṁ tu labdhvā saṁsthānam ātmānaṁ bahu manyase | sarvabhūtabhavaṁ devaṁ brahmāṇam iva śāśvatam ||
ਇਹ ਪਦ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈਂ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਭੂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਕ ਸਨਾਤਨ ਦੇਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਹੋਵੇਂ; ਪਰ ਇਹ ਇੰਦਰਪਦ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਅਡੋਲ ਜਾਂ ਅਨੰਤ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਟਿਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਬਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ—ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਤੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। ਕੇਵਲ ਮੋਹ-ਘੇਰੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
